About

Safety and Respect Guidelines for Sport:

Engaging in any sporting activity entails inherent risks that necessitate constant vigilance and individual responsibility from both coaches and participants. While safety remains a paramount concern in fencing, unforeseen accidents can still occur. Everyone present, including coaches, students, parents, and guardians, holds a pivotal role in upholding safety standards. This encompasses coaches identifying and addressing unsafe behavior by students, fellow coaches, and parents who may not prioritize the well-being of all involved. We wholeheartedly invite all individuals to actively contribute to fostering a secure environment within the realm of fencing.

Mutual respect is a cornerstone principle within our sports community. All individuals attending or visiting our classes are expected to uphold respect for one another and the training facility itself. Instances of behavior that fall short of these standards will result in expulsion from our premises and a subsequent ban. Any fees paid will not be reimbursed in the event of removal due to such behavior. Unacceptable conduct includes, but is not limited to, verbal or physical aggression, theft, or damage to property.

If these conditions are unacceptable to you, we kindly ask that you refrain from attending our training sessions or utilizing our facility.

Optimal Class Size:

Our commitment to delivering quality coaching, personalized attention, and safety in fencing is underscored by our intentional decision to cap class sizes at a maximum of six students per coach. This deliberate limitation enables our coaches to focus on each student's distinct needs, safety, and overall fencing skill advancement.

Trial Classes:

We would love to see new students in our academy! However, we only do our introductory / trial classes in the first two weeks of the term. We are committed  to a safe and progressive training environment in our academy. As such, once the sessions are in progress during the term, we avoid starting or accepting introductory or trial students so  that the progress of our students are not disrupted.

Fee Structure:

We acknowledge the significance of transparent communication regarding fees in fostering a successful partnership. Our fee structure reflects the value of the services we provide while ensuring accessibility for all participants.

1. Term Fees: All fees are collected for the entire term in advance. A tax invoice will be issued and must be settled before attending our classes. We do not accommodate pro-rata or casual terms.
   - Learn-to-Fence Term Fees: The term fee for Learn-to-Fence classes is a fixed $240, irrespective of session count. A student can enroll in the Learn-to-Fence class for one term only. Subsequent terms necessitate enrollment as a Club Fencer.
   - Club Fencer Term Fees: Term fees are calculated at $40 per session, dependent on the number of weeks in the private school term in Queensland. For example, a 9-week term would require a term fee of $360, paid in advance.

2. Refunds: We do not provide refunds for sessions missed by students. Our coaches are devoted to training your students, and we expect a comparable level of commitment from students and parents. Prolonged medical reasons for missing sessions during a term require a medical certificate  to be considered for fee credit to use during the following term.

Equipment:

We encourage club fencers to invest in their own equipment and protective gear.

Equipment lending during sessions is contingent on availability. We apologize if a specific size is unavailable, and we consider this when replenishing our stock in the future.

Equipment orders occur twice annually, typically in January or February and again in June or July. Active students will receive an email a month prior to the next order round.

We offer assistance with minor equipment repairs/checks for student-owned gear. However, we are unable to perform major repairs on equipment purchased from other suppliers, as different brands and suppliers may have non-interchangeable components.
